Weeknotes 26-31

The past few weeks have been an un-Boston-like level of dry and pleasant out, weather-wise, so of course this week is when the humidity comes back. The big event of the week was Creative Juices, my work’s annual-ish art show where staff, current and former interns, current and former freelancers, friends of the studio, etc, all submit artworks to be shown with a theme. This year’s was “A matter of scale”, and for the first time I actually submitted something!!!! Which you can see and read more about here :3

The actual art show was super fun, always great hanging out with my coworkers and friends (and having the groups intermingle). I got to see a friend of a friend again who, after I met her the first time, I realized I had bought art from her two years ago at a RISD art show. Crazy coincidence! Also just so fun seeing the variety of art that everyone makes. Animations, short films, quilts, digital illustration, paintings, linocut prints, sculptures, some of my coworkers even got together to form a band and they played two cover songs (Teenage Dirtbag and Closing Time).

Always really inspiring to see what everyone makes and it’s great to have an excuse to make a personal project again, which I haven’t really done in a long time. Maybe one day I’ll get back to learning to draw and submit an illustration one year??? Former coworker Owen submitted an illustration which was really nice, and I’m pretty sure that’s a relatively recent hobby of his, so why can’t I do the same?????
