Weeknotes 26-34

I had a realization late in the week that I did not eat at home for like seven straight days, I’ve been busy though I don’t think any of it is actually too exciting to talk about lol

Monday I played (American) mahjong with some coworkers, which honestly just reinforced that I greatly prefer Chinese and riichi rules!! It felt like when you grow up knowing English and then you learn Spanish and all of the characters are the same but they’re pronounced differently, when I got my first hand of tiles I immediately was thinking of yakus I could go for but then I was like “wait that’s not how this version works” and instead I was just getting more and more frustrated with their hand system. I need to force my coworkers to play riichi instead tbh!!!!! Then I went home and played more Big Walk, still incredibly fun! I could probably say all of the same stuff as last week. I got Gabby to play with us and we made some good progress n_n

Thursday was another pinball tournament, I got two of my coworkers to come to this one and that made it even more fun!! I loved seeing how excited people were to teach them how to play and make it as welcoming as possible :’))) One of them wants to keep going regularly which is fun, AND she said that she knew another person who was interested and hadn’t heard of the casual thursdays before, so maybe we’ll get another new person to come lol

On Saturday I saw Afternoon Bike Ride, really incredible show!!! Maybe 40-50 people total in the crowd? No real stage so all of us at the front were sitting on the floor. They played their new album in full, but every song was changed to fit the live performance from the three of them. Like each of them had cool effects pedals and mixers to do really interesting things, or some songs had their instrumentals completely swapped out for something else (like Miss Universe) since they don’t have a full band to play every instrument, and I don’t think they wanted to purely do a backing track which I appreciate!! Was really nice talking to them after the show, we talked to the guitarist about his gear and guitar and what they were using on stage. Like he plays a G&L guitar that he got for 300 dollars when he worked at guitar center 14 years ago and has kept using it ever since. And his other setup stuff was kinda unconventional, really thick guitar strings, detuned, and then a bass-boost pedal for when they need deeper bass tones, which makes sense because Gabby at one point thought he might just be playing a bass or something. Talking to the singer about the album was fun, and also Ryan Hemsworth since he’s how I found them many years ago lol. They said his new album is really good and worth the wait……… exciting!!!!!!

Oh in other big news, I posted on instagram for the first time in like 10 years. I kept having this conversation with people where like, I would meet people and they would ask for my instagram and I’d have to sheepishly be like “ohhh haha um I don’t really use it though…..” and they see a blank profile. Which for someone I’m just meeting doesn’t really come off as me being a Normal Person. Like sure they can get that vibe from talking to me, but if the whole point of wanting the ig is to keep in contact then I feel like I should at least post occasionally to remind people I exist? I guess? I dunno, I have too many thoughts about interpersonal social media etiquette and interactions and I find it all very strange and I will never go into it here since posting about social media on the internet is the most boring thing ever!!!!!

Okay I did a bunch of other stuff but I don’t know how exciting “oh I went out for dinner with my friends again :)” is so!!!!!!! until next week 🫡
