Weeknotes 26-36
I’ve been home all day since it’s labor day and I’m still writing this at 10pm lmao oops. Pretty uneventful week other than stuff happening at work which I’m not going to talk about here, so!!!! Played more Big Walk, played some Quake and UT2004, played some Silent Hill 3, watched some Movies. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah lol
Had such a nice interaction with a guy when biking into work on Wednesday, he pulled up next to me on the bridge and complimented my bike saying that I clearly took good care of it, then we chatted about front racks vs panniers vs backpack before he took a turn that I wasn’t. So nice!! What a great little moment!!
Olivia was in the area on Saturday so we watched the newest episode of Jet Lag the Game since I have a nebula subscription so I can watch the next episode early. Very sad that she moved so far away, since a 12 minute walk has now turned into an hour on the bus or a 35 minute bike ride for me, brutal!!!!!
Two weeks ago I mentioned my upcoming Utah trip to friend of friend Jessica who is a big climber/hiker, and she was like “two 10 mile hikes in two days when you don’t hike? good luck!” so over the weekend I took it upon myself to try to go for a long walk around the city, but specifically focusing on hills to match the elevation gain of the hikes we’re going to do (1,100ft). I didn’t track the first few hills, but I’d estimate the total I did was around 600ft and my legs were killing me after. So I think she was right lmao!!! Definitely need to spend the next two weeks going for long, hilly walks after work to train myself a bit. When I went to Yosemite last year and we walked up to the vernal falls, that was close to 1,100 (but the top was closed, so probably closer to like 800 if I had to guess?). That didn’t feel too bad, but I also had been walking a lot the previous few days so I had kinda warmed up. Vs this trip where I’m just going in cold after a normal work week and then sitting in a plane/car all day. Any day I’m not doing my hilly walks I should be playing DDR to get some stamina back too!!!
On that walk I dropped off two rolls of film I’ve shot over the last couple months so I’m excited to finally see those!!! It’s at the point where I definitely don’t remember a lot of the shots anymore (even if I usually take the same shot with my fuji anyway).
I watched both of the new Mortal Kombat movies this week. Something really surreal about watching one of these fanservice movies when having basically zero knowledge of the source material. Like I knew a couple characters names and I knew the concept of like….. finishers? So whenever they did a really obvious reference it felt soooooooo cringey which then made me thing like, oh this is probably how every fanservice thing I like is seen by someone not into that thing, huh. Really funny seeing them realize with the second one that people don’t care about the audience self-insert character!!!
Things I’ve been into this week!!!
